Introduce yourself here

Hi everyone! I’m Felipe from Ecuador. You can find me on X as @slf188.

I’m giving deep learning another try! I took some lessons from the course but found it extremely overwhelming and gave up on it too soon a while ago…but I’m excited to be back!

If any other members are taking the course, I’d love to form a study group and work through the material together.

Let’s connect and help each other out! Feel free to reach out!

Hello everyone! I’m Tooba from Montreal, Canada. I recently discovered the fastai course and have become a huge fan. I’m excited to deepen my AI knowledge and engage more with the community!

I don’t have an X account but feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn. I’ve also just started blogging while doing the course. You can check it out here.

Hi Tooba. I was just reading your blog and wanted to say great work! The one where you deploy with Flask is inspiring me to try something similar.

Hello DL geeks,
Myself,Vignesh,A computer science graduate from AndhraPradesh,India.
I heard about fastai from a senior and chatgpt.I loved the first session. Looking forward to unveil the mysteries of Deep Learning.I have no background in ML field. But I find fastai useful in this process. Thank you @jeremy

Hi Everyone,

I’m Johney, a Software Engineer based in Auckland, New Zealand. As bit of background about me, I made a switch from working in hotels to going back to study Computer/ Data Science a few years back before COVID. I always had a passion for technology and felt the time was right.

I have been on and off when pursuing the course. However, keen to complete it this time and build on the way :slightly_smiling_face:

Though I did a majored in Data Science at Uni, After the first lesson I am finding the the fast ai course more practical. I am a visual learner and like Jeremy’s straight to the point explanation. Hoping to interact with everyone during this course!

Not so active on X, however active on linkedin, feel to connect.

Hi Everyone,

I’m Harsh. I’m a Data Scientist in the bay area. A little bit about me: I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. About 2 years before graduation I decided that I want to pursue a career in DS & ML. After doing some research, I enrolled at Springboard for the data science track and after some time I was able to land my first role where I work right now. I started the course last year in August but stopped before lesson 4 to take a break. I took a break longer than I intended to and as Jeremey said lesson 0 I plan to “Finish the damn course” this time around.

I’m hoping to interact with everyone during the course. I’m looking to start a study group so if anyone’s interested let me know!

hey folks! I’m quite hyped with fast.ai courses, the community and its alumni success.

I’ve been working with software (and people ) last 10+ years and it’s the first time I’m taking a sabbatical and will finally get more into AI. I’ve dropped a great job and team to do this so I’m very much looking forward for it!

Hello, All.

I’m Larry. I’m based in the USA. I’m new to Machine Learning in general. I heard about this course on the freeCodeCamp podcast.

My X (formerly Twitter) handle is: @iamlarrygoodman.

I look forward to learning with anyone who is still around.

Hi All,

My name is Abdur Rahman, and I am excited to start my AI/ML journey with this course.

I have a bachelor’s in Computer Engineering and a Master’s in Computer Science (HPC), but I have never been able to understand machine learning and/or deep learning, or at least I was hesitant to learn and try something new.

Let’s begin this journey with fast.ai, and I hope to see you all around.

Wish me luck.

Hello world,

@Stephane, 20 years old, I’m currently studying Big Data and AI in an engineering school in Paris, France. I’m also interning in a startup. I just began to follow Jeremy course and I’m very glad to join this forum today.

I’m also looking for a partner whom I could work with and share knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me if you are interested.

Best regards,

Hello, Imraan Dixit here :earth_africa:

I’m from the beautiful coastal town of Mombasa, Kenya :ocean:.

I’m incredibly grateful to @Jeremy for offering me such an amazing opportunity, one that, a few months ago, would have seemed less likely than being told I was relocating to the moon next month :rocket::full_moon:.

I’m also pleased to be part of the incredible fastai community :handshake:.

Thank you again, and I wish you all the best .

Hi, I’m max.

I am currently a student just finished studying in Germany and looking for work in data science, machine learning, and ai. I studied forestry and then environmental data science, however, I feel completely lost after finishing my studies and am lacking any real experience in the tech world.

My hope is that this course will help guide me in creating a portfolio I can use to demonstrate worth to future employers. In parallel, I have a secret dream about using AI for multispectral image analysis of forests as a means of early (several months) warning systems for small scale environmental collapses.

As somebody who has spent time teaching classes to students of all ages, I really appreciate the approach, and the incredible amount of time, that has been invested into the program here by @jeremy and company. Feel free to dm me if you would like to have somebody to bounce concept understanding off of and we can both benefit from helping each other

Hi everyone! Joining this course in October 2024, I love the way @jeremy encourages and shuns every possible fear, that of maths or deploying and just asks us to do it!
We should pay heed to it and well, to take a book from Nike’s book, Just do it,
So I did it and took unconventional way to deploy on HF Gradio via uploading the files, here’s my blog post detailing that- yes I did that too!- https://avtnshm.github.io/

Hi, my name is John Lam and I am looking for a studying group to study together and keep each other accountable. Please contact me if anyone is interested. My x account is @talk2kin

Hey Avatansh, do you want to form a study group to keep each other accountable?

Hi! My name is Fafa. I am a software engineer, digital rights activist and tech policy analyst from Nigeria currently residing in Newcastle, UK.

I work full time currently as a Python developer using Django REST framework to build API endpoints for the backend of mobile and web apps. I also work parttime as a course Tutor in Durham University, teaching in a program run by the Computer Science Faculty for building tech skills for women from disadvantaged backgrounds. I am also the co-founder of Digital Grassroots, a non-profit organisation that aims to increase digital citizenship for youth from underrepresented communities.

I have an MSc in Cybernetics and Communications Engineering from Nottingham Trent University, UK and a BEng in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from University of Benin, Nigeria.

I desire to career switch to AI Engineering and i am using the Practical Deep Learning course to facilitate this.

I built an image classifier at the end of Lesson 1 and 2 that can categorise images into Nature, Sports, Architecture, and Fashion and documented the process in my personal blog Build an ML Model for Classifying Images in a Django API App using Fastai, Hugging Face, Gradio and Colab

I look forward to completing the course and networking with fellow course takers and AI experts to explore collaboration, coworking, learning and job opportunities.

Hello,
My name is Manuel Steele. I am a PhD student in Data Science at Arizona State. I have been taking a course in CSE507 for AI and medical imaging. The course focuses on localization and segmentation with COCO datasets or custom datasets that require training with a model. Typically, the teacher wants a “backbone” and main segment/detection model combined. It looks like IceVision is very good for flexibility. I am from rural AZ and enjoy studying AI. I’ll ask my question in another thread.
