So I understand the book was written a few years ago. Since then the authors came up with an updated video course, but the book was not updated. Given that - what is the recommended way to go about my learning? Where should I go first? Videos? Book? Both?
Follow the video lectures, and use the book to supplement. In the resources of each video lesson is written the associated chapter in the book to read.

You should do both. because examples discussed are different and you will be exposed to different things despite doing the same thing. I am through 3 chapters and corresponding lectures. really nice to see different things…already started enjoying it.
