This isn’t an official challenge but I’ve been mulling the problem in my head over the past few days and haven’t decided whether or not an image classifier could possibly have enough nuance to recognize the minute differences between screw threads
Below is a link to a pdf that shows the diameters for different screws. There are 20 different types listed. The diameters separating different sizes are VERY small. I assume there’s no way to know for sure until I dive into the nitty gritty – but I wonder if anyone has any initial guesses as to how modern day classifiers might perform on this problem.
