I’m a bit confused by the licensing of open datasets, e.g. ImageNet, which stated in its FAQ that their server only provide the original images for “non-commercial research and/or educational use”. Can we train a model on the ImageNet dataset and use it for commercial application, given the original images wouldn’t be re-distributed in any way?
Generally speaking, can we use copyrighted materials to develop models for commercial application?
