Due to covid-19 there won’t be a study group at USF this year. Please see this post for a request for help designing an online replacement:

I have started a table of all lesson resource in the top post of this thread, and have posted the lesson videos there. Here they are:

If you create notes for the lesson, please edit the lesson 1 wiki post to add a link to your notes - many students have really appreciated the wonderful notes taken by students in previous classes, so contributions are extremely welcome!

We had a successful experiment of the “official project group” today - here’s what some of the folks said afterwards:

We’ll have something running (hopefully) every day, so feel free to come join us any time! Reminder - here’s the thread: https://forums.fast.ai/t/official-project-group-thread/65817

For those still looking to get a server set up, note that our recommendation is to use Paperspace Gradient. You can use it for free (6 hour sessions at a time), or for $8/month you can get plenty of extra storage. If you want more powerful GPUs, you can pay extra for those - although the free ones are really plenty good enough. One important point about this is that Paperspace has official reps from the company helping students: @dkobran @tomg (and @dkobran is actually a co-founder of the company, and @tomg has been with them from the start too!) Here’s the thread you should use for setup and help:

One important point about Paperspace is that it is "real’ Jupyter, unlike the other main free option, Colab, which is a forked version of Jupyter that doesn’t support everything in this course (e.g. the File Upload button). This will become particularly an issue in the next lesson, when we put an app in production.

The main downside of Paperspace is that sometimes they run out of free servers. In that case, you can either use Colab, or use a paid server.

@part1_v4 @part1_v4_usf Just a reminder: as discussed in previous lesson, there is a class today, to help make up for all the time taken up with the COVID-19 stuff. It’ll be recorded and posted in this thread as usual, so don’t worry if you miss it live!
