is anyone using Google Cloud on a MAC? Seeing Google requires python 2.7. for local installs :frowning:

https://cloud.google.com/sdk/docs/quickstart-macos

Anyone went through this and can share experiences? Thinking switching to paperspace for now

Hi! I did the GCP setup through the medium article referred above (https://medium.com/@howkhang/ultimate-guide-to-setting-up-a-google-cloud-machine-for-fast-ai-version-2-f374208be43) but I am unable to follow the current video lessons on https://course.fast.ai/lessons . There’s no files on my jupyter notebook that match what is going on in the video. The tutorial mentions that the machine I setup was for the v3 version. Do I need to wait until the v3 version of the courses go online or did I do something wrong?

I am not able to start my Google Cloud VM instance because the zone is low on resources. How do I resolve this issue? I did not have an issue up until now. Help!

Just starting and getting up my VM for the first time and had the same issue for me yesterday and today. Tried every zone in the list too :frowning:

Thank, Mark! Let me know if you are successful resolving this issue. I shall do the same. I will just have to be satisfied watching the class videos until then.

Sorry. Here is the updated link. Just use Fast.ai community template with these instructions.

I also have the same issue and it’s been consistent for a week now. I am switching to Colab for the time being

From their support:

"First, my apologies that you’re experiencing this issue. Be assured that
the team is working hard to resolve it.

Our goal is to make sure that there are available resources in all zones. This
type of issue is rare. When a situation like this occurs, or is about to
occur, our team is notified immediately and the issue is investigated.

We recommend deploying and balancing your workload across multiple
zones or regions to reduce the likelihood of an outage. Please review
our documentation which outlines how to build resilient and scalable
architectures on Google Cloud Platform[1]. Also, please note
that Instances created in other zones can be moved at a later date[2].

Again, we want to offer our sincerest apologies. We are working hard to
resolve this and make this an exceptionally rare event."

Thanks, Mark! In the meantime, I am switching to Colab too.

Seems to work fine for me now.

This was the bottom line from their support:

I can advise at this time is that our sales team regularly handles quota & resource related issues. If this error continues to persist, you can contact our sales team at the following link [https://cloud.google.com/contact/] and they can provide further help.

Thank you!
