Hi! I’m Java/Kotlin dev and I’m starting out the ML/DL jorney cause I want to stay relevant and continue to get good salary.
I also want to take both of two worlds:
more engineering and domain modelling from enterprise development
more exploratory and experimental side of ML/DL
and combine them in some project like ML Ops. I find that fascinating to model ML as a domain model using Kotlin or other OOP language and come up with a product that will orchestrate ML operations.
This topic was created first of all for me to log my thoughts and progress,
and also for like-minded people from more traditional software development fields that started or already advanced in the world of ML/DL
As for now, I find python and jupyter notebook services very annoying, didn’t proceed much in the course cause I constantly get errors. First I tried Kaggle but got some exceptions there and tried to run it on Mac, dependency management in python is horrible. Then tried to run notebooks in AWS EMR, couldn’t load the dependencies either. Now I try Google Colab, it always asks to give permission to Google Drive access. I’ll try using Docker image with attached volume in the next couple of days
Hello @gichie,
It’s fantastic to see your enthusiasm for merging enterprise development with ML/DL! Combining domain modeling with exploratory ML/DL in a project like ML Ops is an exciting challenge. Your background in Java/Kotlin will be invaluable in creating robust and scalable solutions. ringsizechart com
