Introduce yourself here!

Thanks a lot @jeremy for providing us an opportunity to learn Deep learning. I’m machine learning practiner for almost 2 years mainly in healthcare domain.im new to deep learning. I like to know how Deep learning is different from ML and how it can be used for real world usecases

I am an AI researcher in Smartbeings, Where I helped create a chatbot development platform which can be used by any enterprise to create conversational assistants.
Currently for the same company I am working on Speaker identification and wake word detection.

Hello. I am glad to be here. I have been self-learning on AI and applied it on a few datasets. I really look forward to practical and hands-on instructor led guide on how to solve my current challenges

Hi all,i am juvenalis Musungu,a graduate student at carnagie mellon university ,majoring in machine learning

So happy to be back and see familiar faces!!

My name is Hiromi - born and raised in Japan, currently living in Omaha, Nebraska. I develop web applications during the day, try really hard to absorb all the things Jeremy and Rachel graciously shared with us in the evening

Kudos to everybody who worked on fastai v1 and I hope I can contribute even just a little piece of it in near future.

Thank you Jeremy for giving us this wonderful opportunity!!!

Greetings from Canada!

My name is Larry. My formal educational background is in Electrical Engineering, however I am currently working as a Data Scientist in the retail industry. In my previous life, I’ve been working in multiple analytical roles in the Aerospace industry (helicopters). This is where I discovered my passion for Data Science and for the last 3 to 4 years, I’ve been studying/reading and watching lectures on areas focused around Data Science.

I am very excited to be joining this course and most importantly part of this community. Look forward to learning with y’all.

Hey all,

I’m Dmitri, and I just career switched from Economics to Data Science. I watched some of the lectures from Parts 1 and 2 v2, and used the ULMFiT paper code for a project at my old job. Looking forward to doing Deep Learning from start to finish and filling in a lot of gaps.

Cheers!

I work as a Data Scientist with a commercial data company. Would love to learn applications of deep learning to put some of our development models into production, one which my company hasn’t seriously worked on yet. Looking forward to this lovely course!
Big fan of Jeremy and Rachel!

Hi Everyone, I am Vipul from India. I work as Data Scientist. I would like to expand my knowledge from knowing basics of DL/ML to becoming a world class practitioner to solve interesting problems with the help awesome people at fast.ai and fellow students.

Hi Hiromi, I have been reading your notes from previous versions of dl classes on medium. I found all the notes helpful , like many others would have. Thanks.

All,

Glad to be part of this virtual/live course. I’ve started the currently available Fast.ai course a few weeks ago and after listening to Jeremy on the TWIML Podcast (https://twimlai.com/twiml-talk-186-the-fastai-v1-deep-learning-framework-with-jeremy-howard/) I’m excited to learn the new version of the library and the course.

My machine learning experience is fairly limited. While I’ve been a software engineer for over 15 years, I’m just a beginner in the ML/DL field. I’ve done some imaging informatics and NLP using TensorFlow, but want to learn more. I also want to be knowledgeable enough to apply deep learning to a range of problems as well as converse with other deep learning focused people I work with.

I’m primarily interested in NLP and structured data applications in the healthcare domain.

All,
I switch to Data science a few years ago, became an addicted Kaggler and works as a Machine Learning Engineer (traditional ML) in New York. I learnt my first steps in Keras and NN regarding Computer vision problematic by following the first edition Fast Ai course almost two years ago.

I am really eager to learn more from the new course regarding Pytorch, NLP and new techniques.

Hi guys:) I’m Dalon, working as a Research Engineer in Bangalore. I’ve done PG program in Machine Learning and currently I’m working on solving diarization problem using deep learning. ML is a very interesting and vast area and I hope these lessons will help me to understand and apply it in my field of interests.

Hello everyone! My name is Aditya. I am a Ph.D. student in Epidemiology and Global Health, investigating the potential use of social media data for predicting the patterns of spatiotemporal spread of vector-borne diseases.

I’ve been quite lonely taking this path since it’s a pretty new area in my group at the university. None devotedly look into machine learning and basically, I’ve been really working only with myself.

Thank you @jeremy for giving us this great opportunity and I really look forward to being part of the Fast.ai community.

Hello everyone,

It is my pleasure to learn with so many talents here. I’ve watched ‘Deep learning for coders’ from the 1st series and acquired technology and best practices in ML/DL to ease my daily tasks.

I am a software architect in a medical data product startup, we leverage deep learning to help doctor make decisions on diagnosis and resources allocation. I am keen to strengthen my understanding in DL edge technology and learn to interpret the theory and effectiveness to other professionals (in our case, doctors) from this course.

Thanks Jeremy for providing this DL party for all of us. Big fan here.

I am Abimannan. I am a beginner to deep learning. I am working on kaggle competition. This course will help me to do AI projects.

Hi Hiromi, me and my wife found your notes super helpful. Whenever I had to revisit something, rather than watch the videos again, would go through your notes. Great work. Thank you so much. Satish

I’m Andrew - a Sales Engineer for Domo in Utah. I’ve been slowly making my way through last years course and I am excited to do this years in real time. I think it will help keep me on task. My side project is an effort to recognize handwriting and have an OCR tool for general handwriting. Excited to learn as much as I can!

Hello everybody,
My name is Minh. My background is about molecular modeling in chemical engineering.
I have begun learning data science by taking some online courses in youtube, kaggle or Datacamp since July 2018.
Current, I am doing some practical projects to improve my skills and looking for a data science opportunity in the industry.
I hope to learn more knowledge in FastAI via this course.

Sincerely,
Minh

Hafidz here from Malaysia, currently a data scientist at Seek.

I’ve gone through the V2 classes (some of them anyway sporadically), but for the most part selectively studying ones that are related to my work (NLP, word embeddings, text classification, language models).

My goal this time around is to try and “actually” go through and understand all the content this time around

I’m hoping that there are lesser changes (ie more stability) to the fastai library this time around, so that it’d be less of a risk for me to move stuff to production.
