Jeremy's Harebrained install guide

Is there some way to make my other screen working. I’m quite nervous about that right now.

I think if we could get you upgraded to the new nvidia driver, everything would work. I am just confused why the different display managers keep popping up when you kill another one. Have you tried changing sources on your other screen?

No. I don’t even understand what that means

My screen has a button at the bottom that switches it between DVI, HDMI, and VGA. I’ve had it get stuck on one before and have to press it so it can find the correct source.

https://www.mvps.net/docs/install-nvidia-drivers-ubuntu-18-04-lts-bionic-beaver-linux/ could this work?

It probably would. I am not familiar with that method though.

I’m just nervous of trying this because it sounds like removing the old and what if I mess this

Let’s go through the steps:
first sudo apt-get purge nvidia*

What’s the next? What driver version I should choose

That’s the part that made me nervous with that guide as well.

Here is what my setup looks like 418.56 is the version I’m on:

http://kawahara.ca/how-to-fix-a-blank-login-screen-on-a-ubuntu-laptop-with-nvidia-drivers/ This is clear and simple. Should I then just type 418.56?

Let’s do it. Hopefully it works.

I don’t know if you can do the apt-get method or not. but if you got up to that point, you could potentially run that file you downloaded earlier

Continue insta…?

I think i ruined my computer. It’s now like 200% size and looks pixels. I dont have nvidia drivers.

Yes continue install

It’s stops to some other errors

You are probably just in between driver versions at this point. so if you purged the old version and haven’t installed the new one yet, it don’t handle it well.
