I want to make sure that everyone who self-identifies as Black is aware of the Black in AI group. One of the organizers, Timnit Gebru (a researcher at Microsoft who did her PhD with Fei-Fei Li), particularly wanted to invite fast.ai students to join!
From their website: Black in AI is a place for sharing ideas, fostering collaborations and discussing initiatives to increase the presence of Black people in the field of Artificial Intelligence. (The website has info on how to connect).
Also, I enjoyed reading this talk that was given by Simon Osindero of DeepMind at the Black in AI NIPS workshop. He gives a great explanation of the motivation and goals for such a group.
