Migration to nbdev2 does not create gh_pages

I am follwing this nbdev - nbdev1 Migration to migrate from 1.2.5, which says

"A new branch in your repo will automatically be created called gh-pages "

but gh_pages branch is not created. What can I be doing wrong?

I manually created the gh-pages branch, which seems to have worked.
