Hello fellow learners,
I have a question regarding the three parts of the representation of a floating point number.
In the video and notebooks we have the following picture:
where the mantissa is positioned after the sign.
However in the textbook that Rachel used in the example of error propagation, it is stated that the actual order for the fields is : sign, exponent and then mantissa.
Having searched on wikipedia
I found this picture regarding the floating point representation
where the order is indeed sign, exponent and lastly mantissa aka fraction.
Since it might be a confusion point for other learners as well, I just wanted to point that out for clarification.
Lastly I want to thank Rachel and Jeremy for this amazing course.
