AMD Releases ROCm 1.0, their deep learning platform

Includes a compiler to replace nvcc that can build CUDA for either Nvidia or AMD GPUs. This could make adding support quite painless for most code.

Would definitely be nice to have some hardware options beyond Nvidia (even as all the 580s are impossible to buy because of cryptocurrency miners). Especially since many laptops, such as Macbook Pros, only have AMD options.

I’m hoping this gains some traction!

Very excited about this.

Has there been any updates on this?

This is now a year later. Sorry to zombize a thread, but I searched this forum site for AMD support and this is still the best thread.
